Brandon Monterrell Thompson, 19, 5201 Cleveland Ave., Kansas City, and Josiah Ahmad Reed, 18, 1525 W. Hill St., Apt. 51A, Sheffield, Alabama, were each charged with possession of a controlled substance 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of West Adams Street and Lake Shore Drive.
According to a Creston Police report, a 2005 Ford was stopped for speeding on Lake Shore Drive. Officers noticed an odor consistent with marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Thompson admitted to consuming marijuana. Reed was the passenger of the vehicle. Two roaches and a blunt were found in the vehicle during the investigation.
Thompson was released on $1000 cash or surety bond. Reed was being held at the Union County Jail on $1000 cash or surety bond.

Skylar Allen Rufenacht, 34, 404 S. Birch St., was charged with domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury 4:49 a.m. today at 308 N. Jarvis St.
According to a Creston Police report, officers responded to a muffled 911 call and found Rufenacht exiting a camper in the back yard at the residence and spoke with him about the incident. Rufenacht told an officer that he and the victim had gotten into an argument and that she had left.
An officer located the victim a few blocks away and observed that she had been seriously assaulted with a split lip, a possible broken nose and other facial injuries. Their two-year-old son was found asleep in the camper at the residence. The victim was transported to Greater Regional Health for her injuries, and an officer transported the child to be with her at the hospital. Rufenacht has previous domestic charges out of Kentucky with the same female in 2019.
Rufenacht was being held in the Union County Jail without bail.

Merle Lee Pugh, 203 N. Oak St., reported that damage had occurred to the passenger side mirror of his vehicle between the hours of midnight and Thursday while parked in a lot behind a business near the 200 block of North Elm Street.
Estimated damage was $100.
