Below are the area leaders (top-10) for select categories in the Creston News Advertiser area softball season. Of all nine area softball teams, the Creston Panthers finished with the best record in relation to their placing in the Hawkeye 10 standings, finishing 13-6 (7-3) with a third place finish.
Hawkeye 10 champion Atlantic finished 17-2 (10-0) with its season-ending loss coming to Creston in the regional final.
The Panthers finished the season at state, losing 12-0 to Albia in the opening round of Class 3A play. Also to make state was Mount Ayr, finishing seventh at 10-5 with a 3-3 Pride of Iowa Conference record.
Also in the POI was Lenox, who finished 11-9 (4-4) for sixth in the conference. East Union was fifth at 14-8 (3-4) and Nodaway Valley was tied for eighth at 8-14 (3-7). Southwest Valley finished last in the conference at 4-13 (0-8). Wayne was the conference champion of the POI at 17-5 (7-1), earning a state appearance in the process.
In the Bluegrass Conference, Twin Cedars was the conference champion at 20-6 (9-0). Murray was tied for sixth with Orient-Macksburg, posting a record of 5-9 (4-5). O-M finished 5-18 (3-6). Diagonal tied for ninth in the conference with a record of 1-14 (0-9).
