2020 CNA area baseball leaders

Below are the area leaders (top-10) for select categories in the Creston News Advertiser area baseball season. Of all eight area baseball teams, the Mount Ayr Raiders finished with the best overall record at 12-3. The Raiders placed fourth in the Pride of Iowa Conference with a POI record of 6-1.

The Raiders lost to Class 1A No. 1 Martensdale-St Marys to end their season Monday night in the Substate 6 playoff. Martensdale was the Pride of Iowa champion.

Also in the POI was Lenox (9-8, 5-3), who placed fifth in conference play. Nodaway Valley finished sixth with a record of 8-9 (3-7 in POI play). East Union tied Wayne for eighth, closing 2020 with a record of 4-9 (1-6). Southwest Valley was 10th in the conference, finishing 1-15 (1-9).

In the Bluegrass Conference, Lamoni was the conference champion. Orient-Macksburg posted a record of 3-13 (3-6), tying Murray for sixth in the conference. Murray’s record was 3-10 (3-6).

In the Hawkeye 10, St. Albert was named the conference champion, and has also earned a chance to compete for a state title with its Substate 7 win over CAM by a score of 9-5. Creston, struggling all season to get over the hump, finished 3-7 with a conference record of 4-10.
