A heartfelt thank you from our family

My family and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kindness, support, and continued prayers over the last 12 months. Since my ALS diagnosis on June 5, 2019, we have all been completely overwhelmed by the kind letters, cards, and inspirational words so many of you have shared with us.

“Thank you” seems so inadequate to express how much we appreciate the generosity of our friends, family, and the Creston community. Allowing us to stay in our home, by building a handicap-accessible addition onto our house, has been a true blessing. We were completely humbled by the number of people willing to donate their time, talents, and money to make this a reality.

We are grateful beyond words to the following people, who donated countless hours of labor: Bennie Shinn and his crew at BNR Construction, Randy McIlravy & family, Chris Brown Construction and his crew, Monty Starlin, Hayes Concrete Construction, Matt Buck, Matt McNichols, Brandon Vonk Flooring, Camblin Mechanical, Bartlett Electric, and Bolton Custom Cabinetry. You guys lifted a huge weight from our shoulders during a very difficult time, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

If you’d like to see what your generosity has accomplished, the entire project has been documented on the Facebook page, “Building Hope for Jay”. Thanks to Debbie Angelo for managing the page for us, and updating it as the building progressed.

We also want to thank Billy Oetken and his daughters Bailey and Morgan for organizing the ALS fundraiser, which benefited the Iowa ALS Association. It was a wonderful evening, and we appreciate everyone who was involved. We were proud to be a part of it.

We would be remiss to not thank our employers and work families, Greater Regional Health, and Creston Vision Clinic, for their continued support and flexibility.

Words alone will never be enough to express how thankful we are. We know that we are truly blessed to have friends, family, and a community that are so caring and supportive. You have made a challenging situation more manageable for us, and we will never forget the amazing kindness shown to our family.

Thanks you all so much, and God Bless.
