Joni Kibbe, 44, 208 5th Ave., Grinnell, was charged with fifth-degree theft 8:26 p.m. Monday at 806 Laurel St.
According to a Creston Police report, Kibbe was observed at the self checkout at Walmart not scanning items and concealing them in bags. She was attempting to leave the store without paying for the items and was stoped by an asset protection worker. Kibbe admitted to doing so intentionally with the goal of not paying for the items, which were worth a total amount of $66.23.
Kibbe was cited and released from the scene on her promise to appear.
