Karol "Mike" Matheny, 74, of Clearfield passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at Griswold Skilled Care and Rehabilitation Center in Griswold. A celebration of life for Mike will be held at Bootleggers' Bar and Grill in Clearfield from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020. Mike was born Oct. 8, 1945, in Creston to George Franklin Bailey Sr. and Lucille Mae (King) Bailey. She graduated from Clearfield High School in 1964. Mike married Dwight Matheny Nov. 7, 1965. She graduated from AIB in 1965 with a degree in typing and key punch. She worked in Creston as a key punch operator and later at Dannen Elevator and Doc Gordon’s as a bookkeeper and secretary. She later worked with family at Clearfield Chronicle, E&E Grocery and they built Mickey D’s Bar in Clearfield.
Mike was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Pauletta Burgher; her mother and father-in law Earl Dwight Sr. and Eileen Matheny.
Those that continue and live on in Mike’s legacy are her husband of 54 years Dwight Matheny, residing in Griswold; daughter Courtney Snyder-Burhenne (Jason) of Treynor; her grandchildren: Alex (Snyder) Stone, 26, Trey Snyder, 23 and Kaden Snyder, 16; her brother George Bailey Jr. (friend Janie) of Nashville, Tennessee; sister-in-law Linda (Brownrigg) Bailey of Clearfield; sister-in-law Karen Elliott of Clearfield; sister-in-law Donna Lou Moore (Keith) of Creston; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
