A recent news story about the debate on whether or not to hold the Union County Fair caught my attention when one of the members of the fair board brought up the financial state of the fair, stating that the fair needed the money.
As one who has lived a lifetime supporting our youth, I resent the inference that the financial state of the county fair trumps the health of our youth (or indeed any of our citizens).
I believe the health and well-being of anyone is of infinitely more value. And I can support that belief scripturally, morally, culturally and ethically. I stand ready to debate anyone who believes otherwise. I believe they’re wrong and clearly not on God’s side.
The COVID-19 pandemic will be with us longer than anyone wishes, and while it is with us, it provides a measuring stick of where our true values are.
