Beta Sigma Phi — Iowa Alpha Master Chapter No. 1632
Iowa Alpha Master Chapter No. 1632 met at the home of Marilyn Larimore June 11 to begin the 2020-21 sessions. Following the opening ritual and roll call, minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
President Dorothy Eyberg reviewed communications that had been received. She announced that the State Convention is canceled for this year but will be held in Des Moines in 2021; the Torch Magazine, which is available online, will only be printed seven times this year and that the international office is now open; the State project is to be announced and the theme for 2021 is “Sisters by Choice”; thank-you messages from Patricia Fils and Martha McAuley were acknowledged.
New business included appointing Loretta Kelly to complete the treasurer’s duties for the coming year. Members discussed a change of meeting times and places, deciding to meet once a month on the first Thursday of the month and alternating between going out for lunch and meeting at members’ homes. The next meeting will be held at Pizza Ranch July 9.
Marilyn gave a short dissertation on the history of aprons — all the different and varied uses of grandma’s aprons — from comforting to cleaning and everything in between. Following the closing ritual, she served refreshments and members visited.
