COVID-19 update

DES MOINES – As of Thursday, a fourth case of COVID-19 was reported in Union County. The individual is in the age range of 18-40 and is self-isolating.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Health website, the number of cases within the Creston News Advertiser coverage area includes:

• Adams: 3 cases

• Adair: 6 cases, 2 recovered

• Ringgold: 2 cases

• Taylor: 5 cases, 1 recovered

• Union: 4 cases, 1 recovered

As of 9 a.m. today, Iowa reports show 119,458 individuals have been tested and of those, 13.7%, or 16,392, have tested positive for COVID-19. Of those, 8,160 have recovered and 418 individuals have died.

Approximately 80% of Iowans infected with COVID-19, will experience only a mild to moderate illness. Most mildly ill Iowans do not need to go to their healthcare provider or be tested to confirm they have COVID-19. Sick Iowans must stay home and isolate themselves from others in their house.

COVID-19 is very contagious and can be spread by individuals that are not yet showing symptoms or never show symptoms.
