Connections Area Agency to distribute farmer’s market vouchers

Connections Area Agency announced that the state is continuing the farmers’ market voucher program for older Iowans. Seniors meeting income requirements can obtain vouchers that they can use at participating area farmers markets to buy $30 worth of fresh, locally grown produce. This year since our senior centers and offices are currently closed to the public, we will be asking individuals to call in and request an application. Contact the Connections office for information on criteria and how to apply at 1-800-432-9209.

Memorial Day service cancelled

Memorial Day services scheduled for May 24 at the Bohemian National Cemetery in rural Prescott have now been cancelled.

Diagonal Community School

Diagonal Community School alumni banquet scheduled for May 23 has been canceled. Officers and committees will be retained for the 2021 alumni banquet. Honored classes for next year’s banquet will be 50 year classes of 1970 and 1971 as well as the 25 year classes of 1995 and 1996. Please contact the school at 641-734-5331 for information.

McKinley Park’s ‘Party in the Park’ postponed

The McKinley Park “Party in the Park” which was scheduled for June 20 has been postponed due to Covid-19. Plans are in the making to reschedule the event to August 2020.

Cloth masks needed

Homestead Assisted Living and Memory Care is still in need of cloth masks for their residents and team members. Masks can be deposited at their community entry. Call 641-782-3131 for more information.

IRS payment hotline now available

Rep. Cindy Axne announced May 20 that the IRS is now creating a hotline for those seeking answers on economic impact payments for Iowans without internet access. The IRS hotline, available at 800-919-9835, has automated messages available to answer frequently asked questions about EIPs, and is adding 3,500 representatives to provide additional assistance for callers.
