Harriet Garrett, 95, of Creston, formerly of Macksburg died Thursday, April 2, 2020, at EveryStep Hospice House in Creston. A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Moon Cemetery near Macksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Methodist Church of Macksburg, Homestead of Creston, EveryStep Hospice and the Parkinson Foundation. Harriet Emily Lattig, daughter of Cyrus Dana Lattig and Laura Matilda (Dorsey) Lattig, was born Jan. 8, 1925, in Hebron. She was educated at Macksburg schools.

Harriet married Marvin E. Garrett June 13, 1943, in Maryville, Missouri. They primarily lived and worked in the Macksburg, Winterset and Pitzer areas. Harriet was a homemaker for Marvin and their five children. She also worked as a waitress at the Gold Buffet in Winterset. They moved to Kinsley, Kansas, where they lived and worked until retiring, moving back to Macksburg, then later to Creston. They traveled to Apache Junction, Arizona, where they enjoyed many winters together.

Harriet is survived by her three daughters: Sherry (Dennis) Lauranzano of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Sharlene Hood of Winterset and Terri (Steve) Wendland of Lawrence, Kansas; two sons: Marv (Christine) Garrett of Allen, Texas, and Rick (Doreen) Garrett of Creston; 13 grandchildren: Robyn (Robert) Myers, Kevin (Mary Kathryn) Schutz, Debbie (Troy) Boyd, Mike (Patti) Hood, Steve (Laura) Hood, Jody Irons, Shane (Holly) Garrett, Misha Curtis, Ryan (Jen) Garrett, Tyler Garrett, Jennifer (Cody) Downing, Shelby (Lisa) Wendland and Corey (Bethany) Wendland; 24 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Harriet is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 73 years Marvin, four sisters: Ethelyn Spencer, Lucy Kirkland, Clarice Claypool and Isobel Duff and two brothers Delmar and Cyrus Lattig.
