April Creston Chamber of Commerce happenings

As I began to write this article I wasn’t sure how to start and then I got a call from Chris, whose last name is not necessary, wondering if the Chamber was open. I said by appointment, phone, email, Facebook, Twitter and then laughed. She was in need of some information that we have here at the Chamber and she stopped by to pick it up. With proper social distancing she and I chatted for about 15 minutes, laughing and strolling down memory lane.

After she left I felt so much better, but it got me to thinking how many of us are still enjoying conversations with friends and still practicing social distancing, or are we so wrapped up in what is going on that we forget to laugh and smile every once in a while. I remember looking at the pictures on Facebook of the Cruise Night last Saturday and how happy everyone appeared. Many out on Facebook are offering silly and/or funny postings. Thank you all for the momentary reprieves. We all need it.

Now I have a favor to ask, if you have a friend or neighbor who is not able, because of the circumstances to get out often, maybe you could reach out to them and go visit and just chat for a few moments, practicing social distancing of course, or even just give them a call. Whether you realize it or not, I am sure you will brighten their day. Please remember we are all in this together.

Please call

Just a brief reminder that not all businesses are closed. Many are there behind locked doors to maintain social distancing, and to try to serve their customers during this unprecedented time. Please call the business to find out or check them out on Twitter or Facebook. You might be surprised how many are waiting to help you. Our businesses need their customers now more than ever.

Chamber “Log”

The Chamber has been maintaining a "log" on our Home Page  www.crestoniowachamber.com of what has been happening in Creston as a result of the COVID-19 virus. We hope that you are using it as a reference so that you don't need to necessarily search the various social media platforms to find out information unless of course you want to. I am sure we have missed some but please know we have made every attempt to include as much as we possibly can. Also if you have questions please give us a call, or email us or message us. We are here to help.

2020 Paint Creston Program

The Image Enhancement Committee of the Creston Chamber of Commerce is planning to again offer the Paint Creston Program to a minimum of five Creston owner occupied homes in 2020. This offer is subject to change as we experience developments in our current situation with COVID 19. We are fortunate again this year to have received financial help from First National Bank to help with this great community project. Thank you so much.

This can be an opportunity to possibly receive free paint to paint the outside of your home. Applications for the program will be available at the Chamber Office, 208 West Taylor/Hwy 34 West or online at www.crestoniowachamber.com beginning April 7 through May 8. Fifty-two homes have been painted in the ten years that the program has been in place. Many of the homes still look great. Paint can make a great difference.

Please stay safe and healthy.
