Alan Schloner, 69, of Mount Ayr died Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville, Arkansas.

As a gift from his family, Alan, his son Jacob and grandson Joseph had been returning from a bucket list trip to see the ocean. While visiting the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana, Alan was able to experience his long-awaited crawfish boil, oysters on the half shell, and time with his family.

Private services will be Saturday, April 4, 2020, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave., Creston. An open visitation will be both Thursday and Friday from 2 to 7 p.m., with Natalie receiving friends as they drive-thru the east carport for distance Thursday 5 to 6:30 p.m. and walk-thru — with under 10 limits — Friday 4 to 7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.

Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family.  Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com.

Alan Lynn Schloner, son of Herman Schloner and Estelle (Gilbert) Schloner, was born Dec. 17, 1950, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Graduating from St. Louis Park High School in 1969, he earned an associate’s degree in graphic communication at Dunwoody Industrial Institute. He was also certified in electronics.

Alan married Cathy Marie Dorn in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Together they had two sons Adam and Jacob. Alan and Cathy divorced in 1994. Alan’s career as an offset pressman spanned 35 years. He retired as production manager of Omega Lithograph in Plymouth, Minnesota in 2003. Alan had numerous small business ventures including being an owner and operator of Scenic View Mobile Home Park in Alexandra, Minnesota from 1998 to 2003.

Alan married Natalie Marie Dugan Nov. 8, 2008, in Minnetonka, Minnesota. They first lived in the Iowa City/Coralville area. They moved to Afton in 2009 and then to Mount Ayr in 2011.

Alan was a member of the Annandale Sportsman’s Club, Plymouth Trap Club, Buffalo Trap Club, Avondale Trap Club and the Cowboy Club of Mount Ayr. Alan was an avid outdoorsman: fishing, hunting and camping with his family. He also loved time in the garage tinkering with cars or anything mechanical.

He is survived by his wife Natalie Schloner of Mount Ayr; two sons: Adam Schloner (Angie) of St. Cloud, Minnesota, and Jacob (Kari) Schloner of Lakeville, Minnesota; three grandchildren; sister Fran (Richard) Barr of Maple Lake, Minnesota; three brothers: Jeff (Lilly) Schloner of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Neil (Sue) Schloner of Corcoran, Minnesota and Greig Schloner of Hudson, New Hampshire.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Estelle Schloner.
