Rodney Bell, 57, 206 W. Montgomery St., was charged on two Union County warrants for failure to appear, one for the original charge of domestic abuse assault and one for the original charges of possession of marijuana and assault causing bodily or mental illness 11 a.m. Tuesday at his residence.

Bell was being held on $2,000 bond in the Union County Jail.

Michael Matherly, 33, 314 N. Spruce St., was charged with assault on a police officer 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at his residence.

According to a Creston Police report, officers responded to a domestic call at Matherly’s residence. Officers attempted to get Matherly’s side of the story and were met with aggressive and hostile behavior. As an officer was about to run Matherly’s driver’s license, Matherly told them to leave his garage. When officers wouldn’t move, Matherly pulled his garage door down manually, causing it to strike one officer in the head and another on the left shoulder.

Matherly was being held on $1,000 bond in the Union County Jail.

Jay Rains, 46, 1501 N. Lincoln St., was charged for violation of a no-contact order 5:11 p.m. Tuesday at his residence.

According to a Creston Police report, Rains sent numerous text messages to a female victim he shares a no-contact order with. Rains had also been texting one of the victim’s friends, saying he was going to go to the friend’s house and ask for money. Rains also said he had been at the victim’s place of work. The victim was worried for her safety and officers went to talk with Rains. When officers arrived to his apartment building, a bystander notified them that Rains had just ran from the upstairs level of the building and ran out the back into an open field. Officers went to the field and located Rains, who admitted to texting the victim.

Rains was released from the Union County Jail on his promise to appear.

Michael Camacho, 700 N. Oak St., reported theft 12 a.m. Friday at his residence.

According to a Creston Police report, someone entered Camacho’s garage and took drywall tools, electronic equipment, some mail and other miscellaneous items.

Estimated loss was $400.

Matthew Rouh, 516 Wyoming Ave., reported vandalism 5:30 p.m. Sunday at his residence.

According to a Creston Police report, someone made large scratched in the paint of Rouh’s vehicle sometime between 5:30 and 6:45 p.m.
