Jessica Swietlik, 33, and Aaron Riepe, 40, of 601 N. Oak St., were both charged with domestic assault 5:21 p.m. Saturday at their residence.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were dispatched to the residence in reference to a civil dispute after Swietlik left the scene possibly intoxicated with children in the car. Riepe said he and Swietlik had been drinking and got into a physical altercation. Swietlik got on top of Riepe and began to assault him, leaving scratch marks on his chest and arm. Riepe pushed her off of him and onto the floor. Swietlik then tried to kick Riepe and kicked the table, causing a glass to fall off and shatter. Riepe said this had happened before and wanted to press assault charges. Swietlik returned to the residence and said the two had gotten into an argument and Riepe broke everything and assaulted her. Swietlik had a mark on her throat and a bruise inside her arm. The children were picked up by their grandparents.

Swietlik was being held in the Clarke County Jail on $300 bond. Riepe was being held in the Union County Jail on $300 bond.

Richard Cunningham, 69, 1024 Crest Drive, was charged with fifth-degree theft and trespass 2:38 p.m. Sunday at Walmart.

According to a Creston Police report, Cunningham was observed by loss prevention staff taking two items totaling $9.45 by video footage. He concealed the items in his coat and proceeded to walk past the security devices located at the front of the store.

Cunningham was cited and released on his promise to appear.

Savannah McVay, 36, 800 W. Adams St., was charged with domestic abuse assault — first-offense display or use of weapon — 12:21 a.m. Monday at her residence.

According to a Creston Police report, McVay had an argument with a male resident and the male began mocking McVay and threatened to break her phone. McVay picked up a small baseball bat and hit the victim with it.

McVay was being held in the Adams County Jail awaiting an appearance before the magistrate.

Richard Leingang, 24, 116 Manor Drive, was charged on a Union County warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of first-offense operating while intoxicated 12:25 p.m. Monday at the Union County Law Enforcement Center.

Leingang was being held in the Union County Jail awaiting an appearance before the magistrate.

Marrell Beaman, 31, 612 Grand Avenue, Q4 was charged with second-offense possession of a controlled substance and Ryan Neal, 30, 205 East St., Orient was charged with first-offense possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia 8:03 p.m. Monday at McKinley Park.

According to a Creston Police report, officers noticed a 2010 Chevrolet parked in a secluded area of the park and approached to speak with the occupants. Beaman and Neal said they pulled over to talk on the phone. Officers observed and open container of alcohol in the center console and K-9 Jax was deployed for an open-air sniff for narcotics. Jax displayed a change of behavior and interest on the passenger side of the vehicle. Beaman admitted to the presence of marijuana in the vehicle and told officers they were at the park to smoke it. A freshly loaded pipe was also found in the vehicle.

Beaman was being held in the Union County Jail on $1,000 bond. Neal was being held in the Union County Jail on $1,300 bond.

T.J. Stalker reported vandalism 9:21 a.m. Monday at the car wash located at 801 S. Lincoln St.

According to a Creston Police report, someone had damaged a coin machine and two control face plates in the bays of the car wash sometime between 5:30 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.

Estimated damage was $1,400.
