The opening round of the girls high school basketball playoffs take place tonight (Thursday) statewide for Class 1A. Multiple News Advertiser area schools will start their postseason tonight at home and on the road. Listed below are who is playing who, where and when you’ll be able to catch the game for News Advertiser schools:
Class 1A Reg. 7
In Class 1A Region 7, Lenox, Diagonal Southwest Valley and Orient-Macksburg will be all tipping off at 7 p.m. today.
Lenox (9-12) opens its postseason against Pride of Iowa rival Bedford (6-15) at home in Lenox. Winner will face Central Decatur (17-3) or Mormon Trail (1-20).
Diagonal (9-12) will face Stanton (19-2) in Stanton with a chance to face the winner of Orient-Macksburg (10-11) and Aubudon (14-7). For O-M, their contest will be played at Audubon.
Southwest Valley (9-12) faces East Mills (13-6) at East Mills with the winner getting either St. Albert (9-11) or Essex (2-14).
Class 1A Reg. 6
In Region 6, its Murray and East Union who will square off against stiff competition in the opening round of the playoffs tonight.
Murray (8-13) will face Martensdale-St. Mary’s (14-8) on Thursday also, with a 7 p.m. start in Martensdale. Winner of the contest will face Wayne (11-10) or Moravia (8-13) in the following round.
East Union (6-15) will face Lamoni (18-2), in Lamoni at 7 p.m., with the winner moving on to face either Seymour (15-6) or Moulton-Udell (9-11).
