‘Our most valued stakeholders’

Dear Panther Partners:

As I near the beginning of my eighth month with the district, I continue to focus on developing meaningful relationships and positive interactions. I have met many people at school events and at my monthly community coffee’s that are scheduled for the first Thursday of each month from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at a local coffee shop (McDonalds, Hy-Vee, Java J’s, and Hardees).

The community coffee’s are meant to be informal opportunities for conversation. There are no agendas or formal presentations and I encourage you to share your questions, concerns, and comments. I look forward to seeing you at the next scheduled coffee on Thursday, February 6 at Hy-Vee. Please check the district website for locations or contact me to invite me to another location.

I am honored to work with dedicated staff, committed parents, and a proud community! Together we continue to build on the strong tradition of student achievement and Panther Pride! The greatest indicator in student achievement and student success is supportive parents, guardians, and community. The role you play in encouraging our children to attend school and be an active learner establishes the foundation that our leaders in education build on. Thank you for setting the foundation that allows our very dedicated and caring staff to build on a stable foundation.

Thank you for making our schools the school of choice! We don’t take our success for granted and our family of educators is continuously working to raise the bar on student achievement and exceeding the district and community expectations. Our children not only receive the best academic education but our family of educators take great pride in the supportive relationships and connections they make with our students and families. It’s the melding of the work of the parent, guardian, the support of the community and the wisdom and interactions with staff that makes Creston Community Schools the very best!

Providing for and educating our children is a community partnership and the success of our students is an indicator of the values and beliefs of our most valued stakeholders -- you! I thank you for the support you have given the district and I look forward to building on the traditions and pride our students bring to the community.

Next month I will review the special election that will be held on Tuesday, March 3 to renew the .67 voter approved Physical Plant & Equipment Levy (PPEL). If I can be of any assistance, please contact me at dstender@crestonschools.org or 641-782-7028. I am thankful for the support of our students, staff, and parents who make our schools the PRIDE of the community!

Yours In Education and Community,

Deron Stender, Superintendent
