Harold “Pete” Petersen, 83, of Creston, died Monday Jan. 20, 2020, in Bedford.  A Celebration of Life memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23 at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Pastor Tony Thurston will officiate. Burial will be in Lorimor Cemetery. Open memorial visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Harold “Pete” Lee Petersen, son of Eugene Petersen, Sr. and Dora (Henkell) Petersen was born Aug. 29, 1936, in Marshall County. Pete was educated in Marshalltown community schools. Pete served his country as a part of the United States Army.

In 1988, Pete was united in marriage to Lori (Henrich). From this union they were blessed with two daughters, Megan and Morgan Petersen. They settled in Creston where they owned and operated J & C Auction Hall. Pete later owned and operated used furniture stores. They were later divorced. Pete worked at Lakeside Casino and also worked as a driver for the Southern Iowa Trolley since 2016.

Pete is survived by his daughters, Megan (Forrest) Jones of Des Moines and Morgan Petersen of Waukee; sisters Mary and Reta. Pete is preceded in death by his parents; son Harold “Hal” Petersen, Jr.; brothers Jack, Eugene and Gerald; and sisters Betty, Shirley and Dora Jean.
