Girls basketball roundup: Eagles take down O-M, Raiderettes blow out Murray

East Union 56, Orient-Macksburg 47

AFTON – East Union bounced back after back-to-back losses Monday night, winning over Orient-Macksburg 56-47.

O-M opened up a large lead at 20-5 in the first quarter, but the Eagles chipped away and pulled it back before taking the lead in the third quarter.

Kaylin Lack was the leading scorer with 23 points on 11 of 18 shooting. Mallory Raney collected 13 rebounds and Noelle McKnight had 13 points.

O-M’s Cortney Gross led the scoring with 17 points. Caitlyn Gist had 11 points and Kaela Eslinger had 12.

Mount Ayr 74, Murray 19

MOUNT AYR – The Class 2A No. 13 Raiderettes routed Murray Monday night, winning 74-19 over the Lady Mustangs.

Murray did not score in double digits in any quarter as the Raiderettes scored 19 or more across the first three frames.

Sam Stewart scored 29 points on a perfect 14 of 14 night from the field. She also had six steals and nine assists.

Rachel Sobotka had 15 points and four rebounds. Channler Henle had 11 points.

Murray’s Jayda Chew was its leading scorer with seven points. Kinzee Eggers had six points.

Panorama 61, Nodaway
Valley 54

GREENFIELD – Nodaway Valley lost to Panorama Monday night in a 61-54 final.

The Wolverines’ three-game winning streak was snapped with the loss.

Maddax DeVault was the scoring leader with 17 points. Reagan Weinheimer was the second leading scorer and the only other in double-digits with 11 points.

Nodaway Valley 77, East Union 21

GREENFIELD – Thursday night the Wolverines beat East Union 77-21 to improve to 10-1.

A game which was originally scheduled for Friday was moved up due to a projected forecast of inclement weather, and the Wolverines did not disappoint in a 50-point victory.

The Wolverines held the Eagles to a maximum of eight points across all four quarters, pulling away with a 28-point lead through the first quarter in a 32-5 frame.

Nine players scored a point with Maddax DeVault leading the charge with 19 points. DeVault grabbed six rebounds and had three steals.

Lexi Shike had 12 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Shike also had five steals.

Alyssa Davis went 6 of 11 from the field with 14 points, collecting five rebounds. Corinne Bond scored 11 points as the only other scorer in double digits.

East Union was led in scoring by Chloe Kerrigan and McKnight, both scoring five points. Thursday was the first game back for McKnight after sustaining a concussion before East Union’s contest against Murray Jan. 9.

Melcher-Dallas 49, Orient-Macksburg 38

MELCHER-DALLAS – Orient-Macksburg lost on the road to Melcher-Dallas Thursday, 49-38.

The Bulldog girls played the game close, entering halftime tied at 17 and entered the fourth quarter leading by one at 28-27. A resurgence from Melcher-Dallas in the fourth saw them take the lead at the midway point in the contest and didn’t look back for the 11-point victory.

Hailey Johnson and Kaela Eslinger had the high in points with nine apiece. Cortney Gross was the next highest in the box score with eight points.

Martensdale-St. Marys 65,
Lenox 37

MARTENSDALE – Martensdale-St. Marys snapped Lenox’s four-game winning streak Thursday night with the Blue Devils topping the Tigers 65-37.

Stanton 49, Southwest
Valley 34

VILLISCA – Southwest Valley lost to Stanton in its middle school gym Thursday night, falling 49-34.
