Lamoni Listening Room with Chad Elliot (Jan. 10)
Chad Elliott will perform a live concert 7:30 p.m. Jan. 10 at Living Art Studios in Lamoni. Elliott will be the first to perform in a series titled “The Lamoni Listening Room.” Elliott, who is the creator of the series, plans to bring touring acts from across the nation to perform 5 or 6 concerts per year. Expect stories, laughs and live music in a relaxed atmosphere. Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be for sale as part of a Lamoni winter play club fundraiser or guests may BYOB. Suggested donation is $10-20 per person, no ticket required.
ALS Charity Night (Jan. 11)
Comedian Roger McQueen, The Voice finalist Terry McDermott and local band Fat Moses perform 7 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Eagles Club #1398. Hospice 101 (Jan. 13)
Dr. Todd Daily of CARE Initiatives is the speaker at Hospice 101 hosted 6:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at Gibson Memorial Library. This free program provides a general hospice overview that includes the hospice philosophy, eligibility, covered serves and products, funding and the hospice team.
John Delaney on tour (Jan. 14)
Democratic presidential candidate Congressman John Delaney will be crisscrossing Iowa for the entire month of January on a small town blitz of 40 stops, a journey he’s dubbed the Send A Message Tour. Meet the candidate 5 p.m. Jan. 14 at Iron Horse Grill, 123 S. Main St., in Osceola.
Mount Ayr Cow/Calf Forum (Jan. 16)
The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association is hosting the Mount Ayr Cow/Calf Forum 5 to 9 p.m. Jan. 16 at Southern Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative, 1502 W. South St., in Mount Ayr. Registration begins at 5 p.m. Topics include cow nutrition and calf performance, Iowa Cattlemen’s Association and Iowa Beef Council update, and a market outlook. Precinct caucus hosted by Union County Iowa Republicans (Feb. 3)
Precinct Caucus is the first event in deciding delegates and representatives from the party for deciding its nominees and party platform. The event is 7 p.m. Feb. 3. Five Creston precincts will meet at Creston Community Middle School. Precincts in Afton, Arispe and Lorimor will meet at the Afton Community Center. The Homestead Pickers perform in Mount Ayr (Feb. 8)
The Homestead Pickers are performers from Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, who will be performing 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 8 in the Mount Ayr High School Auditorium at 1001 E. Columbus St. in Mount Ayr. The band performs bluegrass, gospel, country and comedy with instruments including guitars, fiddles, banjos and harmonicas.
