Ruth Weed, 89, of Creston died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, at EveryStep Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston. Celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Rev. Jim Morris will officiate the service. Open visitation with family receiving friends will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Burial will be held privately at Graceland Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Theodore J. Marten's Creston VFW Post #1797. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Ruth Lavone (Wilson) Weed was born Feb. 13, 1930, in Percival to Opal M. (Bailor) Wilson and Vernie Wilson. She grew up and attended school in Pacific Junction.

On Jan. 3, 1949, Ruth married Everett D. “Dale” Weed in Kansas City, Missouri. They lived in Orient for a short time following their marriage and then moved to Creston.

Ruth was a homemaker and also worked in the hot lunch program at Creston Schools for eight years. Ruth was a member of the Creston VFW Auxiliary Post # 5357, National Association of Retired and Veteran Railroad Employees and the Hospice Auxiliary.

Ruth is survived by her daughters: Kae (Jim) Carlson of Omaha, Nebraska, Cathie (Alan) Hudson of Creston, Debera (Ron) Gordon of Creston and Tina (Tonie) Thaden of Liberty, Missouri; step-children Larry Dale Weed of Richland Center, Wisconsin, and Janice Weed of Orient; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law Don Stivers of Glenwood; sisters-in-law: Dora Wilson of Fort Worth, Texas, Marge Wilson of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Doris Wilson of Council Bluffs and Auty Wilson of Lexington, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, parents, 10 siblings: Vernon Wilson, Harold Wilson, Maxine Pustover, Robert Wilson, Kenneth Wilson, twin brothers Rex and Tex Wilson, Marie Hytrek, Jack Wilson and Jeretta Stivers, grandchildren: Sheila Gordon, Michael Weed, and Stephen and Ronald Weed.
