Craig Cottrell, 52, 405 W. Monroe St., was charged with assault — simple 9:14 p.m. Friday on the 800 block of West Adams Street.
According to a Creston Police report, Cottrell had gotten into a dispute that resulted in him shoving a victim. The incident was captured on video and shown to police officers.
Cottrell was released on a promise to appear.

Jay Rains, 46, 201 W. Mills was charged with public intoxication 5:17 p.m. Saturday on the 200 block of West Mills Street.
According to a Creston Police report, Rains was observed having difficulties standing and smelled of alcohol. Rains was administered a breath test that yielded a blood-alcohol content of .230.
Rains was being held in the Union County Jail on $300 bond.

Kendrick Davis, 21, 612 Grand Ave., was charged with second-degree theft and burglary 3 a.m. Sunday on the 600 block of North Cherry Street.
According to a Creston Police report, Davis had entered a home and was stopped by one of the homeowners, getting into a brief fight with the homeowner before fleeing.
Davis was being held in the Union County Jail on $15,000 bond.

Leslie Smith, 35, of Mount Ayr was charged with unlawful possession of prescription drugs and driving while suspended 5:13 p.m. Sunday on the 500 block of South Vine Street.
According to a Creston Police report, after being pulled over as part of a traffic stop, Smith was found to be unlicensed and in possession of unprescribed nitroglycerin in an unmarked brown vial.
Smith was being held in the Union County Jail on $1,300 bond.

Douglas Stevens, 45, 608 N. Cedar St., was charged with driving while barred 1:21 p.m. Sunday on the 600 block of North Cedar Street.

Jeffrey Henkelman, 43, 307 W. Mills St., was charged with fifth-degree criminal mischief and public urination 3:15 p.m. Sunday at the Lobby.
According to a Creston Police report, Henkelman had been recorded urinating on a police car Dec. 1 while police were investigating a potential fight at The Elms Club. The video had been posted online and a concerned citizen informed police of the incident.
Henkelman was being held in the Union County Jail on $300 bond.

According to a Creston Police report, someone entered Boyce’s residence and took DVDs, a 24 inch TV and two DVD players sometime during the overnight hours of Thursday into Friday.
