The Lady Mustangs were limited to single digits in the first quarter as Lamoni built its lead at 13-5.

Kinzee Eggers was the leading scorer with eight points for Murray. Teryn Shields and Megan Keller each had six rebounds to lead the team. Keller had two blocks for the team-high.

“We struggled like we knew we would shooting this evening. Too many unforced turnovers,” said Murray head coach Jerry Shields. “Stayed with them in the first half only down 10, but them let them start the third quarter on a 12-0 run. Have a lot of things to work on.”

Southwest Valley 47, Shenandoah 42

SHENANDOAH – Southwest Valley edged Shenandoah Tuesday night in a 47-42 contest to improve to 2-0.

SWV head coach Michael Webb had much to say about how his team battled against the Fillies.

“We learned a lot here. We had some high and lows in this game, but we were able to finish out the last few minutes of the game with stellar defense to hold on to the victory,” said Webb.

Webb said the Timberwolves held a steady lead into the fourth before Shenandoah’s press defense gave SWV issues, causing the Fillies to work their way back into the contest.

“It was great to see all the stress Shenandoah put on us. We were still able to find a way to win,” said Webb.

Rylee Jacobs and Marah Larsen reached double digits in scoring, tallying 15 and 10 points, respectively. Myers sunk two free throws to end the game to put the game on ice, finishing the night 4-for-4 from the stripe.
