Hello December! It seems hard to believe that it is already here. Time flies when you are having fun, and there is never a dull moment here at the chamber. By now you may be tired of the catch phrases so I will move on with why it is busy.
The Creston Chamber of Commerce Annual Holiday GiveAway 2019 (the ticket promotion) has begun and will run through Dec. 18 with the big drawing 10:30 a.m. Dec. 19. This year we have added a twist to the 2019 GiveAway. There will be two special drawings – one on Dec. 4 and again on Dec. 11 during the promotion for an additional $100.00 in Creston Bucks.
Each business will draw a number from those already turned in and contact the Chamber with that ticket number. The Chamber will then draw a winning ticket from those numbers and post the number on its website and Facebook. The tickets drawn will be returned to the ticket receptacle at the business and be part of the total drawing at the end of the promotion. Please remember to check to see if you are one of the early winners in the 2019 GiveAway.
There will again be a second drawing for those tickets that remain unclaimed. Prizes need to be picked up by 4 p.m. Jan. 3. If prizes are not collected by then, new tickets will be drawn for the remaining prizes. If these prizes are not claimed by 4 p.m. Jan. 17, all remaining proceeds revert back to the Creston Chamber Promotion Committee. Complete rules for the GiveAway are posted in all participating businesses.
There’s No Place Like Creston For the Holidays
This year’s Lighted Christmas Parade will be held 7 p.m. Thursday. This is a fun and spectacular event that any business, group, family or individual can participate. The only stipulation is that your entry needs to be lighted and have a Christmas theme. If you would like to be involved please begin lining up on Mills and Walnut by 6:45 p.m. If you have any questions please call or email the Chamber Office. We would love to have you involved.
The parade will begin at the corner of Pine and Mills and head west on Mills to Elm Street. At Elm it will go south to Montgomery and at Montgomery it will turn west. At Montgomery and Division is will head south on Division to Adams Street where it will turn east on Adams Street going to Walnut Street.
For more events, see the cover of the Creston News Advertiser or visit the Chamber website, www.crestoniowachamber.com and view the calendar of events. Join us on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date. There is so much going on in Creston during the holidays.
Gold Star Business Honored
The Chamber honored Harvey Law Office, 109 W. Montgomery St., as the December Gold Star Business in Creston. They were nominated because of the appearance both inside and out of their building and property. Congratulations.
Remember to contact the Chamber with your Hi-Five or Gold Star Honoree.
Hi-Five Honors
The following individuals received the Hi-Five Honor in December. Congratulations to
Angelina Herrara, Creston Walmart and Ashley Tucker, ISSB.
The Hi-Five for Service allows us to recognize those who make shopping and doing business in Creston a rewarding and positive experience.
Creston Bucks Makes Holiday Shopping Easier
I would also like to pass along an idea to make your holiday shopping a little easier, and less time consuming. The idea: purchase Creston Bucks at the Chamber Office. They are similar to a gift certificate, except that they can be spent at over 235 Chamber businesses.
Anyone can come into the Chamber of Commerce office to buy Creston Bucks. The Creston Bucks can be purchased in increments of $5, $10 and $20, and there is no fee for this service. The Creston Bucks will be treated as cash with the exception that no change will be given back. Therefore, Creston Bucks users will not be able to cash their bucks without buying merchandise from businesses in Creston.
Creston Bucks can also be personalized such as, “Compliments of XYZ Company” or “Merry Christmas Todd from Joe and Rhonda.” If you would like your Creston Bucks personalized we would appreciate knowing a day in advance in order to give us time to produce the custom made Creston Bucks.
Remember, when you purchase Creston Bucks you are keeping the money right here in Creston.
Creston Bucks are a great way for everyone to support Creston.
Last, but certainly not least, we at the Chamber Office would like to extend our wishes to all of you for a safe and happy holiday season and thank everyone for their support during 2019, our Creston’s Sesquicentennial Year.
We are looking forward to working with you in 2020 as we continue to make Creston a great place to visit, work and call home.
