Following a public hearing Tuesday, the Adair County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to adopt a cap on wind energy at 535 wind turbines with no second or third reading on the measure.
The supervisors, in front of a crowd that filled about three-fourths of the courtroom, heard from 12 people who all spoke in favor of capping wind energy development where it is at. No one spoke against a cap.
The ordinance, known as Ordinance 31B, will go into effect as soon as it legally is published in the newspaper.
In the public hearing, many of the people spoke of the “ruination” wind energy has made of Adair County or the “crisis” that the number of wind turbines has made in the county.
