Police

Dale Hammer, 22, of Westville, Oklahoma, was charged with possession of paraphernalia and two counts of first-offense possession of a controlled substance and Dalton Wallis, 24, of Stilwell, Oklahoma, was charged with public intoxication 5:04 a.m. Tuesday at 900 S. Sumner St.

According to a Creston Police report, Hammer and Wallis were spotted by an officer behaving suspiciously inside of a local gas station. The officer observed the two leave and received a call from the store clerk, notifying the officer that Hammer had asked if the clerk would like to purchase steroids and believing Wallis had taken some candy without paying. The officer spotted their vehicle at Roadway Inn and intercepted the two inside the hotel. Wallis appeared to be intoxicated and smelled of alcohol. Hammer was found to have a pipe within his pocket which he claimed was used for marijuana. As the officer attempted to investigate further, Hammer grew visibly nervous about the officer’s intent to search the vehicle. As the officer walked the two out of the hotel, Hammer attempted to go into his room and give the vehicle’s keys to his boss. K-9 Jax investigated the vehicle and had a positive behavior change. After receiving permission from the vehicle’s owner the officer searched the car and found methamphetamine, which Hammer admitted was his.

Hammer was being held in the Union County Jail on a $2,300 bond. Wallis was being held on a $300 bond and a hold for a warrant from Adair County, Oklahoma for failure to appear.
