A report from the Iowa State Patrol states that a Council Bluffs woman has died after she was truck by a vehicle on Interstate 80 approximately 6:41 p.m. Tuesday near the 92 mile marker outside of Stuart.
Kristina Schmidbauer, 26, who was on the side of the road with a broken down vehicle, was struck by a Dodge Durango driven by Richard Moncivaez, 53, Nashville, Tennessee.
Preliminary investigations show that Schmidbauer was likely in the traveled portion of the interstate. The incident is still under investigation.
The Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Stuart Police Department, Stuart Fire and Rescue all assisted at the scene.
