Robert "Bob" James Hinrichs, 76, of Prescott died Friday, November 1, 2019, at Bergan Mercy Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Prescott United Church-Disciples of Christ, 405 6th St. with Rev. Mary O'Riley officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery near Prescott. Open visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 701 7th St., Corning. Robert “Bob” Hinrichs, son of Robert John Hinrichs and Ruth Elaine (Walter) Hinrichs was born Jan. 8, 1943, near Lawton.
Bob attended Lawton Community Schools and graduated in 1961 and later received a bachelor’s degree in instrumental music from Morningside College, a master’s degree in school administration from Northwest Missouri State University and a specialist degree in education administration from Drake University.
On April 3, 1971 Bob married Jolene Green.
Beginning in 1965, Bob was the band and vocal music director and taught German in the Prescott Community School District and then became the band director at Adair-Casey Community School District. He later was high school principal in Malvern for three years and then Sigourney Community School District until he retired in 2007.
Bob was a mayor and a member of the Bandmasters Association and School Administrators Association of Iowa, served as EMS coordinator for southwest Iowa and was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church.
Bob is survived by his wife Jolene; children: Kristi (Jeff) DeGennaro and Martin (Sarah) Hinrichs; grandchildren: Max, Preston, Emma (Larsen), Alden, Audrey (DeGennaro), Jackson, and Zoe Hinrichs; and siblings: Larry (Barb) Hinrichs and Linda (Vernon) Brice.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Elaine Hinrichs, brother-in-law Jon Green, and his grandparents.
