Wolverines win Class B race at Ballard Invite

HUXLEY — The Class 1A No. 4 Nodaway Valley boys continued to succeed, winning the Class B portion of the invitational with a team score of 64 points.

The Wolverines edged the Class 3A No. 8 team North Polk by seven points to take the Class B potion of the Ballard Invitational.

NV’s Josh Baudler took second with a time of 17:03.9 and Ben Breheny (18:15.6), Toby Bower (18:21.1) and Tyler Breheny (18:34.6) finished 10th, 11th and 12th, respectively as the top four finishers for the Wolverines.

The NV girls finished tied for fifth with Creston, but retained sole possession off a fifth by a tie breaker. As a unit the group scored 127 points.

Sophia Broers was the leading finisher for Nodaway Valley, finishing seventh with a time of 21:33.5.

NV’s next best time came off the legs of Reagan Weinheimer, running an 11th best time of 22:36.2. Mallory Kuhns finished 27th, running a 24:22.4 clip.
