Free public workshop for caregivers at Homestead Assisted Living

The second session in a three-part series, Understanding Dementia: Caring for Others – Caring for Yourself, will be presented 5:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at Homestead Assisted Living in Creston.

This session provides practical tips for those who are primary caregivers for those with life-limiting conditions. While the series is geared toward caring for family and caregivers of patients with dementia, this session provides practical advice for anyone providing care. Those who are providing care for invalid family members, home-bound parents or any other long-term caregiving relationship, would benefit from this session.

The session will provide an explanation of compassion fatigue as well as helping individuals determine if they are experiencing this unique type of burnout. The session will include many useful tips on avoiding or managing compassion fatigue.

This educational series is presented by Care Initiatives Hospice with Susan Finehout, Certified Hospice & Palliative Nurse, providing the instruction. The event is free to the public and no registration is necessary.
