Fred Siverly, 91, of Clearfield died Aug. 23, 2019, at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Aug. 27 at United Methodist Church, 500 Monroe St., in Clearfield with Pastor Gary Shea officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Woodside Post No. 97. Burial will be at a later date at Clearfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 26 at Clearfield United Methodist Church. A memorial fund has been established in Fred's name for the Clearfield Cemetery Paving Fund and the Clearfield Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left at www.armstrongfh.com.

Fred Siverly, son of Fred and Dorothy (Brandt) Siverly, was born Dec. 14, 1927 in Clearfield. Fred attended Grant Center No. 5 Country School through the eighth grade. He graduated from Clearfield High School in 1945. Shortly after high school, Fred served his country by joining the U.S. Army.

Fred married Virginia Keenan March 7, 1947.

Fred enjoyed his life’s work of farming and soil conservation. He built many ponds, terraces and installed farm drainage systems across several counties in southern Iowa.

Fred is survived by his wife Virginia, children: Nancy (Ron) Brown of Diagonal, Sue Mobley of Benton, Ken (Karen) of Kearney, Missouri, and Martha (Lewis) Larson of Clearfield; grandchildren: Greg (Amy) Mobley of Maloy, Brian Mobley and Marci Bjustrom (Clint Werner) of Benton, Amanda (Kurt) Stoaks of Lenox, Brenton Siverly of Chicago, Katie Siverly of Kearney, Missouri, Will (Bonnie) Larson of Diagonal, Robby (Aimie) Larson of Clearfield, and Shaun (Dana) Larson of Clearfield; 16 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Karl (Donna) Keenan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Winnifred (Orville) Frus, Belle Bennett, Ethel (Paul) Graham, Joan (Arlo) Beggs, and L.L. (Alice) Siverly; brothers and sisters in-law; Lee (Sheryl) Keenan, Dorothy (Beryl) Hall, Jean (Karl) Wurster, and Bob (Betty) Keenan; and son-in-law Ron Mobley.
