Austin Matthew Goodrich died Aug. 10, 2019, in Des Moines as the result of a motorcycle accident. A celebration of Austin’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Earlham Church of Christ with a luncheon to follow at Earlham Community Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving live plants or a memorial donation.

Austin Matthew Goodrich was born June 7, 1998, in Des Moines to Angela Schoebel and Matthew Goodrich. Austin graduated from Van Meter High School in 2017. He worked as a heavy machinery operator at J & K Contracting. Austin enjoyed being outdoors – camping, kayaking, fishing, hunting, rock collecting, flying and exploring nature. Most recently, he took a snowmobiling trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming with Sterling Bean. Austin was able to bless others as an organ and tissue donor.

He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Matt Goodrich, Angie and Jason Schoebel; brothers: Zac Goodrich, Gavin Goodrich and Jax Schoebel; nephew, Travis Goodrich; grandparents: Jerry and Kathy Goodrich and Debbi and David Swadley; great-grandparents, Elaine and Wayne Swadley; aunts and uncles: Roxanne and Mike Book, Jason and Christie Goodrich, Steve and Jessica Goodrich, Brandon and Kristi Swadley, and Jeff and Michelle Whitt; cousins: Jordan, Jake, Derek, Devin, Ella, Sam, Ava, Presley, Piper, Lily, Luke, Finn, Leyton, Carly, Olivia, Jackson and Henry.

Austin was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Galen and Grace Sandeman, Dale and Mona Goodrich, Oren and Mildred Abbott; and his grandmother, Sherie Goodrich.
