Creston Kiwanis
The weekly Kiwanis meeting was held 12:05 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Pizza Ranch meeting room with 21 members and two guests. President Terry Freeman presided, Ed Ritter did the prayer and Julie Lang was the finemaster.
New member Chris Lane was introduced by his sponsor Dennis Carter. The club welcomed Chris who are excited to have him join.
The Club is collecting school supplies for the Creston Schools to help out students that are in need. Members will be bringing the supplies or money to buy supplies to meetings until Aug. 20.
Creston Kiwanis will be having a fundraising date in the fall for the club with Hy-Vee Dollar Fresh. Menu and dates will be finalized soon.
The program was Deron Stender, new Creston Schools superintendent. He discussed his personal history, education history and his philosophy and vision for Creston Schools. He also talked about several new big projects planned and started for the buildings and grounds at the schools, including new security upgrades to protect faculty and students.
Ladies Lakeshore Auxiliary
Ladies Lakeshore Auxiliary met Aug. 14.
Canasta winners were Joan Chubick, first; Janice Musterman, second; and Connie Kerrigan, third.
Loretta Kelly won the door prize.
Kris Kerrigan will host cards and chatter Aug. 21.
