An accident in northern Adair County claimed the life of a young adult female Tuesday.
A report from the Iowa State Patrol states that a 2012 Chevy Malibu driven by Kayci Emerson, 18, of Fontanelle, for unknown reasons crossed the center line of Highway 25 about two miles south of Interstate 80 and collided with a southbound 2007 Chevy Silverado, driven by Nathan Rigsby, 36, of Thayer.
Emerson was wearing a seatbelt. She was flown by LifeNet helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, where she died from her injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Menlo Fire and Rescue, Adair County Ambulance and Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement Officers.
