New orthopedic surgeon joins ACH

GREENFIELD – Adair County Health System announces orthopedic surgeon Dr. Teri Formanek, MD has joined the organization and will begin seeing patients in August. Formanek will be performing general orthopedic procedures and specializes in upper extremity procedures, having completed the Harvard Hand/Upper Extremity Fellowship.

“We are thrilled Dr. Formanek will be joining our team,” said ACHS CEO Marcia Hendricks. “His expertise and experience are outstanding and we’re confident he will provide the best possible care to our patients.”

Formanek completed his medical degree at the University of Iowa and his orthopedic surgery residency at the Creighton-Nebraska Foundation in Omaha, Nebraska. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery with additional qualifications in hand surgery. He is an active member of the medical community with professional affiliations with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Medical Association, Iowa Medical Society and Mid Central States Orthopaedic Society. His work has been published in Foot and Ankle International and Nebraska Medical Journal.

Growing up in rural Iowa, Formanek said, “I have always practiced in large metro areas and this is a chance to get back to my roots in rural Iowa.”

Formanek will be seeing patients at Adair County Medical Clinic in Greenfield and Health Trust Physicians Clinic in Winterset.
