Marion Chubick, 81, of Creston, died Thursday, July 4, 2019, at the Lenox Care Center in Lenox, Iowa.

Celebration of Life Services will be 12 noon on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue, in Creston. Pastor Chuck Spindler will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Military Rites by Theodore J. Martens Post #1797, Creston V.F.W.  Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon service time Tuesday, at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Marion Eugene Chubick was born October 11, 1937, in Creston to Thersa Hester (LeRette) and Arthur Cecil Chubick. Marion was educated in the Creston Community Schools, continuing on at Illinois State University, earning his GED.

In 1960 after returning from California, he moved to Council Bluffs and began working for the railroad as a fireman.

On December 29, 1960, Marion married Deana Maine in Council Bluffs.  He was drafted in November of 1960 by the U.S. Army Signal Corp where he served his country until 1966, being discharged in 1966 as a sergeant.  Marion also was a first responder for REMA for Ham Club.

In 1965 he moved Creston and began working for Hills-McCanna as an X-ray technician.  He also worked as an industrial radiologist until 1970. Marion and Deana divorced.

On May 12, 1975, Marion married Bonita F. (Reimolds) Sikes in Hannibal, Missouri. Marion went back to work for the Burlington Northern railroad in 1970 out of Creston, where he worked as an engineer and was an active part of the safety committee on the Chicago line in Beardstown, Illinois until November 9, 1987, when he retired due to health concerns. Marion and Bonita divorced.

Marion was an active hobby Ham Radio operator in the area. He went back to school at SWCC in 1991, taking classes in computers. Marion was a past president of SWIARA Amateur Radio Club as well as a local chairman BLF #665 in Beardstown, Illinois. He also served on the TCI Board in Creston.

On July 22, 2010, Marion married Ava Mae (Kepner) Force of Cromwell.  They made their home in Frost Proof, Florida, later moving to Creston, following Ava’s stroke in February of 2016.

Marion is survived by his wife Ava Chubick of Creston; three sons, John (wife Chris) Chubick of Bloomington, Illinois, Mark (wife Verleta) Chubick of Creston, and Luke (wife Dawn) Chubick of Heyworth, Illinois; a brother, Barry Chubick of Creston; four grandchildren: Kayla, Marika, Zach, and Luke Jr.; two great-grandchildren: Coralynn and Calvin Smith; two sisters-in-law: Joan Chubick of Creston and Lela Bettis of Wichita Falls, Texas, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Art, Delbert, Wilbur, Jerry and Franklyn; two sisters: Rosalyn Nash and Theresa Doreen Clark; and a niece Cindy Chubick.
