Southwestern Community College’s agricultural department and Union County Historical Society are co-hosting an old time wheat threshing demonstration in July at the SWCC agricultural site, north of the SWCC Creston campus on Green Valley Road, in conjunction with Creston’s Sesquicentennial celebration.

As part of the threshing event, spectators viewed cutting, binding and shocking of the wheat July 1-2. The threshing of the grain follows in mid-July, with the public invited to attend from 4 to 8 p.m. July 16 and 17. This will be a great informational history lesson including horse- and tractor-drawn demonstrations of the threshing process.

All events will be come-and-go and the public is welcome to participate. For additional information, contact 641-782-8159 or 641-782-1352.
