I am writing to ask that Creston residents ask the planning and zoning board and city council to vote “no” on the recent request by Interstate Power and Light to get a conditional use permit to build an electrical substation on property commonly known as 601 E. Mills St. and 701 E. Mills St. in Creston.
This is a residential neighborhood. Having a large electrical substation in this area will be an eyesore and will lower our property values even further. It would not be that much farther for them to locate in the actual industrial area of Creston or on Osage Street where there is property available for a site such as this.
My husband and I have worked for more than 25 years to make our home, our yard and our community a better place. We have invested in our property regularly to increase both its appearance and its value.
Please talk to the board members and ask them to please do not allow this electrical substation in this neighborhood.
