Cecil “John” Stevens, 69, of Creston died Saturday, June 8, 2019, at EveryStep Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.

Celebration of life memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave., in Creston. The Rev. Jim Morris will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Flag presentation will be by Theodore J. Martens Post 1797 of Creston VFW. Visitation with family present will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Memorials are to the family or EveryStep Hospice. Cecil John Stevens, son of Roy Leslie Stevens and Paige Darlene (Coulthard) Stevens, was born Aug. 6, 1949, in Creston. He attended school in Bridgewater, Prescott and graduated from Creston in 1968. John served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked for Hills McCanna, later Wellman Dynamics, as a core maker for more than 20 years.

John was a member of American Legion and Eagles Lodge No. 1398 of Creston.

John is survived by his son Tone Stevens of Creston; sisters, Barbara White of Sherman, Texas, Linda Hill of Urbandale, Darlene (Bryan) Cook of Diagonal and Janet (Frank) Young of West Des Moines; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, brother David in 2014 and brother-in-law John White.
