Carol Miller, 81, of Greenfield died Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston.

Mass of Christian burial was 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, at St. John's Catholic Church in Greenfield with burial in Greenfield Cemetery. A luncheon was held at the church following the committal services. The Rev. James Ahenkora officiated the service. Open visitation was from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 3, at Steen Funeral Home, 101 SE Fourth St., in Greenfield with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Carol Ann Miller, daughter of Orval and Mable (Perry) Conley, was born Feb. 24, 1938, in Prussia Township in Adair County. Carol grew up and attended Prussia No. 3 Country School in Adair County and graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1956.

On June 14, 1958, she married Michael J. Miller in the St. John’s Catholic Church in Greenfield. Carol worked for Adair County Farm Bureau for three years and was the elementary school secretary for 34 years at Greenfield Community Schools. Carol retired Aug. 15, 1994, when she had her liver transplant.

Carol was a member of Eastern Star, Greenfield Fire Mates, 4-H Adair County Committee, Adair County Extension Council, PTA, St. John’s Catholic Church, West Central Mental Health Board, Adair County Health Foundation, Adair County Hospital Auxiliary, bloodmobile, TOPS and Business Women, and was a 4-H leader for approximately 20 years.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Julie (Rod) Harter of Greenfield and Jane (Tom) King of Creston; grandchildren, Bridgett Harter, Ross King and Sarah King; great-grandchildren, Damon Wallace, Nicolas King, McKinley King and Zachary King; sisters, Judie (David) Zietlow of Wauconda, Illinois, and Susan (Don) Owen of Elkhart; brother-in-law Ed (Karen) Miller Jr. of Winterset; other relatives and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mike Miller in 2006 and aunts and uncles.
