Superintendent finalists announced

The Creston School Board recently held screening interviews with seven semi-finalist candidates for the district superintendent position. The screening interviews included 25 minutes with each candidate via electronic conference equipment. Based on their application materials, references and screening interview, the board is pleased to announce the following three finalists have been invited to the district on May 29 to interview for the district superintendent position.

Brad Anderson

Anderson currently serves as the Woodward-Granger Superintendent. Prior to being named superintendent in 2011, Anderson served the district has the PK-5 principal. On top of his superintendent duties, Anderson also serves the district as the special education director, curriculum director, transportation director, title I coordinator and CRISIS coordinator. His prior experience includes serving as an elementary principal for United Community Schools, 3rd grade teacher in Earlham and 5th grade teacher in Gilman City, Missouri.

Deron Stender

Stender currently serves as the superintendent for Clarinda Schools. He has served in this role since 2016. His responsibilities also include oversight of the Clarinda Academy. His prior experience includes serving as a superintendent in Virgina, Frazee-Vergas and Fulda ISD 505 Schools in Minnesota before moving to Iowa. He was honored with the Distinguished Leadership Award and District Award of Distinction from the Minnesota School Board Association. Prior to getting into school leadership, Deron earned a business degree and taught as a business teacher.

Rob Busch

Busch currently serves as the elementary principal and superintendent for the Edgewood-Colesburg School District. Initiatives he has led include 1:1 laptop initiative, “Leader in Me” training, and improving grading practices. Busch also has experience serving Centerville and Moulton-Udell Community School Districts as the shared business manager, curriculum director and athletic director. He also served as a shared superintendent for Wayne and Lineville Community School Districts from 2004-10.

The school board will consider feedback from the formal interview teams as they decide who will be the new district superintendent. The new superintendent will officially begin their duties on July 1.
