Ralston to complete Adult Reconstructive Fellowship

Greater Regional Health’s orthopedic surgeon, William Ralston DO, will complete an Adult Reconstructive Fellowship this year to learn new and emerging surgery and post-operative techniques. Ralston will start his Fellowship Aug. 1 at University of Missouri.

This Fellowship for Ralston will give him the opportunity to learn new techniques for hip/knee surgeries to be less invasive and have a quicker recovery time. He will also learn advanced techniques in revision knee and hip replacement.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to learn the newest and most advanced techniques in knee and hip replacement surgeries. I’ve always felt that we provide excellent care at Greater Regional Health (GRH), and we do it in a way that’s more personal than in larger hospitals,” said Ralston about his upcoming fellowship. “That’s one of the advantages of being in a community hospital and working with, and taking care, of your neighbors. That attitude has helped us develop a great team at GRH. From housekeeping, maintenance, physical therapy and nursing, we’re always trying to improve. Just like everyone else on the team, I’m committed to excellence. Even though it will be a sacrifice for my family, especially my wife Kathy, I feel like it’s important that I make sure we’re offering the absolute best orthopedic care available. I want to be sure that I’m improving with the rest of the team.”

Quality has always been a top priority for Ralston and the orthopedics team, and with this training he will be making sure Greater Regional’s orthopedic care will evolve with the fast pace of medical advancements.

GRH will still be providing all the same quality orthopedic services such as total joints, sports medicine, carpal tunnel and fractures. With a new addition to the orthopedics department, Dr. Timothy Rankin will complement the talents of Dr. Gautam Kakade and Jake Davis PA-C. With Ralston returning Aug. 1, 2020, GRH is excited to have a talented orthopedic team with three surgeons and an orthopedic PA-C to serve the patients of southwest Iowa.
