Fry's take plea deal

Kenneth and Kelly Fry, of Osceola, accepted a plea deal Monday in the case that charged them with neglect or abandonment of a dependent person, child endangerment causing bodily injury and child endangerment back in June of 2018.

The Fry's have plead guilty to two counts of child endangerment as part of the plea deal which has them facing a prison sentense not to exceed two years and a $6,250 fine.

They will be sentenced 9:30 a.m. May 23 at the Clarke County Courthouse.

The Osceola Police Department and the Iowa Department of Human Services had been investigating the case.

The Fry's had seven children living in their home, two of the children were adopted from Ghana the other five were Kenny and Kelly's biological children.

The two adoped children, ages 8 and 9 nine at the time of the investigation, were kept in a room that had been subdivided by wood into two parts. Each was lined with plastic and had alarms on the doors. Their doors were alarmed, Kelly told a DHS worker, because the children would sneak out of their rooms to steal food and other family members belongings. The two children each had a small plastic mat, a blanket, a small shelf and a bucket to be used as a toilet.

The children were placed with relatives in January 2018 and have recieved therapy and services since that time. Both children have gained weight and reportedly showed none of the negative signs that Kenny and Kelly Fry had accused them of since being removed from the home.

The five biological children had no food or household restrictions like the two adopted children did.
