Sumner Avenue Casey’s to reopen in late May

The remodeled Casey’s General Store and gas station, 903 N Sumner Ave., is slated to open the last week of May.

According to Michael Richardson, vice president of marketing at Casey’s, the new store will be 3,588 square-feet larger than the previous store and will feature a large kitchen with pizza and sub sandwiches, and a small seating area for dining.

He said the Casey’s will have a coffee bar and fountain drinks along with standard convenience store snacks and general merchandise.

The location will sell tobacco products, lottery tickets, liquor and feature a “beer cave.”

Six fuel pumps will provide 12 fueling positions carrying E85, super unleaded, unleaded 88 and ethanol-free 91 and 87 CLR gasoline, as well as diesel.

There will not be a charging station for electric vehicles or a car wash.

New location

Casey’s General Stores has agreed to purchase property where The Windrow, Creston Express laundromat and storage buildings are.

Richardson said, once the sale is final, demolition and construction will begin at the Highway 34/Taylor Street location mid-June, which he estimates to be completed in four to five months.

Currently, the Casey’s location at 621 New York Ave. is expected to close in May.

The Windrow will celebrate its last day 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.
