Larry Buckner, 75, of Adair died Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at his home in Adair.

Celebration of life services were 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle. A luncheon was held at the church following the service. The Rev. Kyle Fever officiated. Open visitation was from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 5, at the church with family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at a later date in Fontanelle Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Larry Buckner memorial fund to be determined. Larry Leon Buckner, son of George and Margaret (Knorr) Buckner, was born July 31, 1943, south of Bridgewater. Larry was raised in Adair County, and attended country school at Eureka No. 8 and then Bridgewater-Fontanelle High School.

On Feb. 25, 1963, he married Wanda Wyllie in Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle. They lived most of their married lives in Adair. Larry was a carpenter and worked for Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines for 12 years, and then started his own business, retiring in 2004. From 2010 to 2016, Larry and Wanda were campground hosts at Lake Anita.

Larry is survived by his wife Wanda Buckner of Adair; children, Rick (Julie) Buckner, Tammy (Jim) Zimmerline, Joseph Buckner and Lynette (Randy) Carney, all of Adair; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob (Gloria) Buckner of South English and Scott (Linda) Buckner of Williamsburg; sisters, Cindy (Mike) Chafa of Stuart and Patty and Brenda Ingle of Runnells; sisters-in-law, Linda Buckner of Des Moines and Ardith Buckner of Greenfield; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cecil, Max and Terry Buckner; sister Beth Barlow; nephew Michael Eggert and mother-in-law Bertha Wyllie.
