Quilt guild to host Valerie Funk

Patches and Pieces Quilt Guild will host Valerie Funk, artist, quilter, designer and published author. She will present a colorful trunk show that includes many of her quilts: White Tiger, Tempest, We Were Soldiers, Brotherhood and many more 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at O’Riley Center, 417 Wyoming Ave., in Creston.

Her program includes a little about her story and how she came to quilting, as well her journey to publishing patterns and her new book. She details the thoughts behind some of her favorite quilts, their individual stories and why she felt so driven to create them.

The program is expected to last about an hour, after which she will be selling and signing copies her recently published book, “Valerie Funk Quilt Artistry,” at $15 each.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 19, Funk will teach her raw edge new applique pattern, “Sunset Road.” Cost for the class will be $40 for members and $50 for non-members, and includes the pattern. Participants must pay in advance to get pattern, and $20 will be refunded if anyone has to cancel, but they will get to keep the pattern.
