The students had some great chaperones and helpers on the trip – Troy Chesnut, Chris Lane and Steve and Leona Shepherd, who helped things run smoothly at a conference that had a lot of new features/activities from just last year. About half of those attending were first time SLC attendees and the members competed in several new events. The support the community has shown helping with projects and fundraising throughout the year is appreciated.
Also this year, the collegiate version of FBLA, Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), also overlapped part of the conference. The students participated in a community service project with them, which was covered by local station KCRG-TV 9. Also, one former FBLA member, 2017 CCHS alumnus and current ISU student, Rachel Shepherd, was elected Iowa PBL Vice President.
