GREENFIELD – Local attorney David Jungmann is a skilled and successful lawyer in Greenfield. He prides himself on the excellent outcomes he achieves for his clients. But what many people may not know about him is that he also volunteers his skills and abilities to make sure people in his community who are struggling to make ends meet get a fair shake in court. For his efforts, Jungmann has been named this month’s Volunteer Lawyers Project’s VIP.
Jungmann has spent much of his career volunteering through Iowa Legal Aid’s Volunteer Lawyers Project, taking referrals for clients who are eligible for services and at a high risk of being taken advantage of through the civil justice system. While the complete number of referrals he has accepted through the years is not fully known, he has taken 28 cases for full representation since recordkeeping began in 1999, donating more than 560 hours of his time and impacting 85 people in the community, including children. The vast majority of these people had a positive outcome in their case, which would not have been secured if not for the help of Jungmann.
Megan Norberg, managing attorney of Iowa Legal Aid’s Volunteer Lawyers Project, said Jungmann is a treasured asset to the pro bono legal community.
“David Jungmann is by far our top provider of pro bono legal services in Adair County. His help to our rural clients is invaluable, especially in an area of the state that is challenging for Iowa Legal Aid’s attorneys to get to,” Norberg said. “We are so thankful for David’s generosity and support in making justice for all a reality for all.”
