Two SWCC students named to 2019 All-Iowa Academic Team

Southwestern Community College (SWCC) students Cassidy Becker of Diagonal and Ashley Myshock of Creston were honored as members of the 2019 All-Iowa Academic Team during a recognition ceremony 6:30 p.m. March 4, sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, at the Embassy Suites in Des Moines.

Becker, a May 2017 graduate of Diagonal High School, is an elementary education major. During her time at SWCC, she has received the following assignments and honors: 2018-19 Phi Theta Kappa Iowa region vice president, Beta Eta Nu president, 2018 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar and Five Star Competitive Edge completer. Becker plans to earn her Associate of Arts degree from SWCC in May 2019 and transfer to Northwest Missouri State University in the fall.

Ashley Myshock is in the nursing program at SWCC. Myshock earned her diploma in licensed practical nursing from SWCC in June 2018. She is currently a student in the registered nursing program and plans to earn her Associate of Applied Science in June 2019. She has been a Phi Theta Kappa member and has made the dean’s list multiple semesters. Following graduation from SWCC, she plans to transfer to the University of Iowa to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.

Phi Theta Kappa International serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students worldwide. Beta Eta Nu is SWCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.
