Heacock signs on CTE Signing Day

Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Career and Technical Education Recruiter Lauren England recently announced the signing of Ashley Heacock to join Southwestern’s accounting and information technology program for the 2019-20 school year.

Heacock, who will graduate from Creston Community High School in May 2019, and is the daughter of Ann and Wade Heacock of Creston.

Heacock inked her commitment to SWCC during Southwestern’s inaugural CTE Signing Day event held Thursday, Feb. 21, in conjunction with National CTE Signing Day.

National CTE Signing Day honors those students who choose to enter a technical field of study. Similar to signing days for athletic programs, which highlight athletes committing to compete in athletics at the collegiate level, CTE Signing Day gives students entering the career and technical education fields a chance to ink their intentions with a college.

CTE programs offered on the SWCC campus include accounting and information technology, administrative office technology, agriculture (ag business, crop production and livestock production), auto collision repair/refinish, automotive repair technology, business administration, carpentry and building trades, electrical technology, graphic design, industrial technology, information technology systems networking, management information systems, nursing, office skills, professional music and welding.
